Newspaper Company Developing Electronic Newspaper Tablet, or eFail

Newspaper giant Tribune Co. is developing a tablet device dedicated to reading newspapers.  The company owns some of the largest newspapers in the nation, including the Baltimore Sun, Chicago Tribune, and the Delaware WhyTheHellAmIinDelaware, all of which would like to stay in business and not become crunched underfoot by the slowly rolling electronic behemoth that is the Internet.

In the news article I read online on my phone, a person familiar with the matter had this to say:  "They're having to reinvent many wheels... If it turns out to be a failure, it'll be a fantastically interesting failure."

Well, that sounds optimistic as hell.

Does Target Have a Bullseye with Google eReader? I'm Clever.

Do-All Outdoors .22 Spinner Target
Hit That Shit!
Superstore Target has partnered with iriver to sell the iriver Story HD, the first ereader that exclusively works with Google Bookstore.  The device will go on sale July 17th at a competitive price. [reuters]

So, here we go again with another ereader.  Kindle, Nook, Sony Thing-a-ma-bob, and now the Story HD.  I know eReader is a fancy way to say it, but why can't a company have some balls?  I want the Amazon BookKiller or the Apple iGlare.  I am all for creativity, but let's stop making up words and have some fun with these things.  Also, I just realized, I have no idea what the hell a "kindle" is.  What the hell kinda word is that and why did I just accept it?

EDIT: I have recently researched "kindle" and found the following:
–verb (used with object)
1. to start (a fire); cause (a flame, blaze, etc.) to begin burning.
2. to set fire to or ignite (fuel or any combustible matter).
3. to excite; stir up or set going; animate; rouse; inflame: He kindled their hopes of victory.
So there we have it, Amazon's subtle hint that you should burn all your books.

Apple to Sony eReader App: Kiss My Grits

Apple iPod touch 32 GB (4th Generation) NEWEST MODEL
The "Flo" of the computer world.
In a surprising turn of events in the land of ereader apps, Apple has rejected Sony's eReader app despite allowing both Kindle and Nook apps.  Some speculate that Apple is attempting to derail more eReaders from being used on its devices, either by cutting competition from its own eBookstore or just out of spite.  This article explains the situation in great detail.

My personal opinion, formed after years of study in temples across the land, is that Apple don't want nobody up in their Kool-Aid.  They let Microsoft slide in a little, but Microsoft already had a mobile platform of their very own.  With little seen of the new PSP phone, Sony has only to grasp at the current race of smartphones.  With Apple shutting them out, they will have no option than to either keep selling their own reader or go all out kung fu style.  I hope for option #2.
