More Proof that Mothers Are Out of Touch: MADD & Archie Comics

The Archie Wedding: Archie in Will You Marry Me? (The Married Life Series)
I am probably in enough trouble without putting a three-way joke here.
MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) are partnering up with Archie Comics to teach children the dangers of drinking and driving.  I, uh...  Really?  Do not get me wrong, I am all about teaching kids the dangers of drunk driving.  But know your audience.  I know that enough people read Archie Comics to keep them publishing, but are these the folks that we are worried about drinking and driving?  I have to know.  I need to know what this story line is.  Does Jughead get loaded on his mom's wine coolers and try to go out for a burger?  Does Mr.Weatherbee get loaded at the bar and drunk dial Miss Grundy?  Does the above image get all naughty the night of prom and.... no, I said I would not mention three-ways.  Too easy.

Where does this end?  Are the Thundercats doing promos still talking about the dangers of peer preassure?  Do the cast of Witches of Waverly Place do a special on the dangers of black tar heroin in 10 years when nobody remembers them?  Does the cast Saved by the Bell get back together and tell you to stay in school?

Saved by the Bell - Seasons 1 & 2
God, I hope so.

DC Drops Comic Code in It's Pants

Not anymore, motherf$@ker

DC Comics stated in a press release that it will no longer use the "Comics Code Authority" seal of approval.  The out-dated non-rating system has rarely been seen on the majority of comics since the 1960s when Spider-Man started doing drugs, whoring around, and killing fools (throwing away Gwen Stacy).  The code was instituted as a witch hunt in the early days of comics to protect juvenile minds.  Then the birth control pill came along and no one cared anymore.  The writers of Archie Comics, the last major comic to consistently hold the CCA, has proclaimed the comic will now become the epitome of hedonistic, sadistic, and puppy stealing horror they always wanted it to be.  I am praying they get Garth Ennis to write it.

Archie Comics First on the eComic Bandwagon!

Watch out all you Archie-reading Ipad owners, starting this April you will be able to get your favorite redhead all digital-like.  Archie will become the first mainstream comic to print on the same day in print and electronically, so says this source.  Add to that, the online edition will be about $1 cheaper at regular price, also a first.

So, not only does this jerky, freckle-face get two hotties fighting over him, he is also still in print?  And now in electro-print?  I wonder how Betty, Veronica, Jughead, other guy, old guy, and the rest of the crew feel about being exploited like this.  I bet we know whose pockets that $1 comes from, am I right?  Your tax dollars!  How, you ask?  Through a complex arrangements of kite schemes and cheeseburger futures.  Fight the power!
